Forró it’s a style of Brazilian song and it’s a form of Brazilian culture representation.
The word “Forró” it’s a expression that came from northeastern culture of Brazil.
The Forró was born in the 19th century and was called “Forrobodó” ( it’s an African term ).
The Forró it’s marked by the sound of the triangle, zabumba and accordion, the dance is characterized by couples that dance with glued bodies dragging their feet on their ground.
The compositions were inspired by the northeastern mode of life and their people, the lyrics portray the habits and customs of these people, from the difficulties to the enjoyment.
You will find lyrics that talk about love, longing for their homes and memories.
The greatest representatives of Forró are Luiz Gonzaga, Carmélia Alves, Alceu Valença, Elba Ramalho, Falamansa and more.
